Evelyn Tan

Being a multi-lingual Singaporean who enjoys travelling the world, Evelyn advocates the benefits of bilingualism for the global future. She understands first-hand that through language learning children can develop their sense of identity and contribution to the world. 

In line with MapleBear’s mission, her role as an educator is to encourage children to become self-motivated learners by appreciating their curiosity, nurturing their confidence, developing their communication skills and facilitating collaborations. 

Ms. Evelyn Tan’s calling as an educator emerged more than 10 years ago when she was a volunteer tutor with Singapore Government’s programme that supported kindergarten children from lower socio-economic background with the literacy and life skills required to thrive in primary education. Subsequently she completed her Diploma of Early Childhood and graduated with Bachelor of Education degree from a reputable Australian university while working full time as a pre-school teacher over the years. 

When she was appointed the Principal of a boutique MapleBear pre-school in Singapore, her amiable personality, strong leadership and excellent pedagogy quickly earned the respect and trust among the school community. 

Evelyn looks forward to working with families at Maple Bear Sukhumvit 107 to ensure the children experience the best of Canadian education that sets a strong foundation for their international future beyond academic attainment. Working closely with Mrs. Patricia Koh and the school leadership, Evelyn envisions a great success of MapleBear Thailand so as to enable more children to grow into successful global citizens who make this world a better place for all!

Adrian Fong

Adrian Fong

The Chief Financial Officer at Maple Bear Singapore, Mr Adrian Fong oversees the company's financial matters, as well as regional business development.

A Chartered Accountant (CA Singapore), Mr Fong graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy from the National University of Singapore and thereafter obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Queensland, Australia.

After spending 15 years in various Finance and Regional Treasury roles at several large multi-national companies, including DuPont and Caltex, Mr Fong ventured out as an entrepreneur in the preschool industry. His deep and rich experience in the education business began in 2002, when he started a preschool in association with a very successful preschool brand founded by Mrs Patricia Koh, the current Chief Executive and Education Ambassador of Maple Bear Singapore.

A keen supporter of Mrs Patricia Koh’s vision for quality preschools in Singapore and the region, he partnered her to bring the Maple Bear brand to Singapore in 2013.

Prior to the founding of Maple Bear Singapore in 2013, Mrs Patricia Koh was the Managing Director with Knowledge Universe, a company based in the USA looking after a very successful preschool brand she created in 1988. During that period, Patricia also headed the Early Childhood Department at the National Institute of Education (then known as the Teachers’ Training College). Besides being recognized as a well-loved lecturer, she was also appointed as President of the Pre-School Teachers’ Association from 1977 to 1993.

Patricia is well recognized for her passion in raising the standards in the way children learn. Being a leading educator with more than 40 years of experience, Patricia is also highly sought after for her expertise as a speaker at events and advisor at early learning centres in the US, UK, Australia and the region. Not only is she an amazing teacher and lecturer, she is also a self-made publisher and has published over 50 children’s stories and music books over the last 30 years. Her mission now is to continue making more stories come alive in all Maple Bear schools in Singapore and Asia.

At Maple Bear Singapore and Thailand, Mrs Koh is fully involved in overseeing curriculum development, teacher selection & training, learning environment design, as well as parenting guidance. Her involvement ensures that the Maple Bear program is specifically designed for our children here in Singapore. With her guidance, we are sure that every child who comes to Maple Bear will have a wonderful learning experience and a solid foundation laid for their future years.

Gerald Macleod

Gerald Macleod

Gerald Macleod holds both a B.A. and B.Ed from the University of Saskatchewan, a Masters degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, and a Masters of Education (second language and immersion specialization) from the University of Manitoba. In addition he holds a Diplôme d’études françaises from the Université de Poitiers, and a Diplôme d’études internationales et du développement from the Université de Toulouse, France. He has received numerous academic awards, including the Government of France scholarship for Graduate Study in France.

His education credentials are extensive, beginning as a teacher in Montreal, Saskatoon and Winnipeg; as Vice-Principal and Principal at all levels of the Winnipeg school system and as a university professor of Education Administration at the Collège universitaire de Saint Boniface, Manitoba.

Gerald served as School District Director of International Education in Winnipeg; Director of International Education in the Department of Advanced Education for the Province of Manitoba, and as a consultant in international education globally. He frequently presents on international education topics to teachers, principals and school boards.

Since 2007, he has been Vice-President and part owner of Maple Bear Global Schools Ltd. and has been responsible for the development and implementation of Maple Bear educational programs and teacher training worldwide.

Rodney Briggs

Rodney Briggs

Rodney Briggs graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.A. and M.A. (International Relations). He was the recipient of the J.W. Dafoe scholarship for studies in International Relations.

In 1981, he joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and served abroad at Canada's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in the Kingdom of Thailand, studied Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan, worked at the Canadian Embassy in the People's Republic of China, and concluded his distinguished diplomatic career in the Republic of Korea. He also served as President of the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers. In addition to Mandarin Chinese, he also speaks French and Portuguese.

In 1996, Rodney joined the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada as the Vice-President responsible for the Canadian Education Centre Network project and in 1997 became the first President of the newly-formed non-profit company, the Canadian Education Centre Network. In this capacity he was responsible for building the network from three centres in the Asia-Pacific region into an entity with a presence in 17 countries spanning the globe.

Rodney also oversaw the establishment of the CEC Network's subsidiary CECN Global Schools Ltd. and conceived the Maple Bear education system. In March, 2007 he resigned as President of the CEC Network and purchased CECN Global Schools Ltd from the CEC Network. Since that time, he has traveled extensively, expanding Maple Bear’s global presence.

Maple Bear Sukhumvit 107 is located on Bearing Road. It’s easily accessible by BTS station which is only 800m away or by car where multiple highway entries and exits are nearby. Around the school, there are multiple hospitals, shopping centers, and eateries.

Maple Bear Thailand is proud to introduce our very first play group session. Our play group is run by our qualified early years staffs who come with vast experience in teaching young learners. In addition, the program will be strictly following social distancing rules, so the session is conducted in a very small group of children. This program is designed to encourage a child’s innate curiosity through an array of play-based activities. These include sensory activities, singing songs, building blocks and having fun with sand and water play. We offer your children the fantastic learning experience of our carefully curated and age-appropriate equipment at our spacious playground. Your children will have a chance to socialize with friends and feel comfortable around our school.
